Opening clean.. Nirvana at about 1:44 (typical time for
the 1991 versions). Page's piano-work is quite pleasing..
Mike's solo-section is very low, and rambling.. not
terribly special or exciting, given Mike's usual fare at
this point. Trey's jamming around the Notes is very
clean .. some nice off-time repetitive chording in between
'em, too.
"Boy" at 5:13, and horns kick in immediately in a
swinging, repetitive groove, clearly composed for YEM and
not improvised (at this point).
Tramps jam around 7:28 or so.. Page's funking is not THAT
hot, frankly.. very standard. No exceptional noodling
from him in here. Very reptitive chording, primarily.
Trey comes in at nearly 9 mins with the jam segment, and
he is noodling with the usual intensity to open. Very
melodious and delightful, with some nice acompaniment from
Fish and Mike in particular, before Page comes in on the
piano (lightly). The horns don't come in until nearly 11
mins, when Trey is noodling in a spectacularly non-stop,
fiery manner, albeit with no special groovy themes or
anything. The final minute is very climactic with the
horns in accompaniment, and clearly make this an above
average version of YEM. Trey even adds a lot of trills,
making it even more fantastic a close to the jam.. an
excellent YEM, all things considered, and recommended (if
only for this jam).
Bass and drums at 12:52, and Mike is quick and repetitive
at the beginning, letting loose his own nasty noodlin'.
Fish's accompaniment is typically groovy and solid...
Around 13:40 or so, though, Mike drops out, and Fish
basically solos for ten seconds, before Mike comes back in
on the same fiery theme that he opened the B&D segment
with.
WUDMTF close at 14:08 or so, and the vocal jam starts
about 15 seconds later as usual. "Don't put your father
in my shoe" or something.. "Crab in my shoemouth"..."don't
put crab in my shoe.." Total time 17:12 Not that great
of a vocal jam.. imo. Russell Falls follows.. (B rating)
